The Right Season For Your Cosmetic Procedure

When is the Right Time For a Cosmetic Procedure?

Many people consider cosmetic procedures without also considering recovery time. Typically, the majority of invasive procedures require a recovery period of at least a week, most taking longer.

The time of year that a patient chooses to schedule their procedure can make a huge difference in their recovery experience. It is important that you do everything you can to recuperate and let your body heal after any surgery. It’s better to do these kinds of things at a time when the kids are still in school!

You want to debut your new body and show off your newfound confidence next summer, not sitting at home recovering. It is recommended that you plan to have your procedure during the winter/spring months.

Something Important To Consider

Confidence boosting procedures that contour the body, like liposuction, include abdominal binders or restrictive wrappings that are necessary for assisting recovery from cosmetic procedures. This can be an inconvenience on a hot summer day.

It makes sense to get an invasive procedure done during the winter/spring and recover comfortably. These are the times of the year when everything is covered, and the temperatures are cooler.

Laser resurfacing treatments can require patients to keep skin out of the sun for a minimum of six weeks!

Exposing your body to excessive heat post-op can exacerbate prolonged swelling and bleeding. Unfortunately, it is not recommended that you recuperate poolside, even if you plan on being in the shade.

Additional procedures like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy are offered by Dr. Benjamin Lam and can reduce the recovery times of cosmetic procedures by 33-50%.

It is important that you contemplate your recovery time when you are considering your procedure, and plan to provide yourself with the optimal environment to heal in. Part of the Team Lam Difference is our staff’s ability to give our patients the information they need to efficiently recover from their procedure, leading to optimal results.
