A mastectomy need not make you feel less feminine, as there are several options for breast reconstruction. The goal of breast reconstruction is to improve the shape or restore the size of the affected breast or breasts. The aim is to match the new breast with the original one either using an implant or with tissue from another part of your body.
Reconstruction procedures can be carried out at the same time as the mastectomy or years afterwards, depending on your individual circumstances. There are frequently steps or phases to reconstruction. You can even have a new nipple complex constructed.
