Liposuction in Bucks County, PA
Precise Liposuction by Dr. Benjamin Lam in Bucks County, PA Targets Problem Areas
Some areas of fatty tissue refuse to budge no matter how much you diet or exercise. A firmer, sleeker body can still be yours with the help of liposuction (suction-assisted lipectomy). Liposuction also known as lipo, removes stubborn fatty tissue and sculpts the affected areas to achieve a more toned, even appearance and is less invasive than abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). The abdomen, waist, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, neck, upper arms all gain better definition. Dr. Lam is one of the premier plastic surgeons to offer liposuction to patients from all over Bucks County, PA, Newtown, Langhorne, Yardley, Doylestown, New Hope, Bensalem, Philadelphia, PA, and Princeton, NJ
There are various liposuction techniques, and it takes a skilled plastic surgeon such as Dr. Benjamin Lam to utilize the most appropriate one for each individual case. The most common type of liposuction involves using a hollow tube called a cannula in conjunction with a suction device called an aspirator to remove the unwanted fat through a small incision. The length of time the procedure takes and whether a general or local anesthetic is required depends on how extensive the areas to be treated are.
Dr. Lam tailors every procedure to each individual case. He discusses with patients exactly what can be achieved and what is involved. You can rely on his experience and expertise to ensure that the optimum amount of fat is removed from the specific areas agreed with you, without any risk of disturbing other tissue. He uses fine tools and places incisions carefully so that they are easily concealed. The result is a refined appeared with a minimum of discomfort.
When you have struggled to reach your target weight and fatty areas persist, liposuction can eradicate the lumps that make you feel unattractive.
The first thing to note is that liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. Some people think of it as similar to bariatric surgery for weight loss, but this is not the case. Removing too much fat during a single liposuction procedure can actually be dangerous for the patient.Liposuction aims to remove pockets of stubborn fat that are almost impossible to target and decrease with changes in diet and exercise. For this procedure, Dr. Lam wants his patients to generally be within 10-15 percent of their ideal body weight. This weight should have been stable for some time.
To be an ideal candidate, the patient should still have good skin elasticity so that the skin can tighten down to the new slimmer contours after the fat is removed.
Liposuction is the most effective method of removing stubborn pockets of fat that accumulate on areas such as the lower abdomen, outer thighs, upper arms, flanks, and even along the bra line area. Just about everyone, regardless of their level of physical conditioning has these pockets of fat. Because of their location, these pockets are almost immune to being affected by dietary changes or exercise.Liposuction with Dr. Lam…
- Removes stubborn fat pockets
- Slims the contour of the target areas
- Does not create any noticeable scarring
- Involves only a short recovery
- Is not overly painful
As with any major surgery, liposuction carries risks, such as bleeding, infection, and a reaction to anesthesia. Specific risks to liposuction are:
- Contour Irregularities — The skin surface may appear bumpy, wavy, or uneven. This is usually caused by poor skin elasticity or unusual healing.
- Fluid Accumulation — Temporary pockets of fluid can form under the skin after your procedure, but these can be drained and are not permanent.
- Numbness — The treated area may have temporary or permanent numbness.
- Fat Embolism — Pieces of loosened fat can break away and become trapped in a blood vessel and gather in the lungs or travel to the brain. These are medical emergencies.
- Internal Puncture — A cannula can penetrate too deeply and puncture an internal organ, but this is exceedingly rare situation.
